Welcome to Bike Smart. Whether you are thinking of getting a bike as an affordable means of transport, or dreaming of that great two wheeled adventure you’ve always promised yourself – we can help! The instructors at Bike Smart have many years of experience in motorcycle training and touring. We offer all types of training; from Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) for 16 year olds taking their first ride on a motorbike through to full licence holders returning to biking as a hobby. We also offer advanced rider training to build on existing skills and improve rider safety.

Compulsory Basic Training – CBT
This is the entry point to riding a moped or a motorcycle on the road and is a legal requirement. It must be completed by anyone who wants to ride up to 125cc machines. CBT is the first step for anyone who wishes to gain a full motorcycle licence.
A2 – Restricted Licence course
This is designed for riders over the age of 19, or anyone who does not wish to ride unlimited power machines. The course and practical tests are taken on a 650cc motorbike to gain a full motorcycle licence. On gaining the A2 licence you are able to ride a bike with up to 47bhp (something like a 400cc motorbike).
Direct Access Scheme – DAS
This is a course designed for riders over 24 years of age to carry out their training and practical tests on 600cc machines. Successful completion of this course provides an unrestricted motorcycle licence with no limit on the type of bike you can ride.
Back to Biking Is available for anyone who has had a break from riding and would like to get back on two wheels. We adopt a flexible approach to this training and tailor the sessions to each individual’s needs; whether it’s a half day getting the best out of your new ride, or brushing up on long lost skills. We provide a highly qualified instructor to help make this an enjoyable and informative experience.
